The Helland's In Holland

FOR OVER TWELVE YEARS OUR BASE HAS BEEN AMSTERDAM. IN THE LAST TWO YEARS, WE HAVE TEAMED UP WITH BRIGHT FAME, A MINISTRY IN AMSTERDAM’S RED LIGHT DISTRICT WHICH HELPS WOMEN GET OUT OF PROSTITUTION. FROM OUT OF THIS WORK WE ARE SEEING A NEW CHURCH COMMUNITY - IGLESIA VIDA NUEVA.
OUR DREAM IS TO SEE NEW DISCIPLES MADE AND CHURCHES PLANTED IN AMSTERDAM, HOLLAND, EUROPE, AND BEYOND. THIS IS AN UPDATE OF WHAT WE HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING LATELY.

For nearly two years, we have been weekly visiting and serving individuals who work in Amsterdam's Red Light District. For many, we have truly become their pastors. Often our Tuesday and Friday night Bible studies are overflowing with people coming to eat and share God's word and prayer. Nearly every week we see people get physically healed and touched by God's love and power. We hear testimonies of what God is doing in their lives not only at these meetings, but also behind the windows of the brothels themselves. This is an example of one such testimony: 

"At first, I thought that you were just a potential client when you came by my window. But then you told me that you were Pastor Mateo and how much God loved me; I was caught totally off guard.  I was suffering that day from major back pain and sadness. You prayed for me and all the back pain left and my heart was so encouraged. 

Another woman in the room was also struggling with depression. She shared a dream that she had and you accurately interpreted that dream telling her what God wanted to say to her. She went upstairs, put her regular clothes on and never came back to this work. "

Every week, people tell us that they want to quit this line of work, but don't know how. Femke volunteers two days a week as a social worker getting people practical help with things such as: dealing with financial debts, looking for a new home and finding other work. This ministry can be challenging, but is very fulfilling.  We continue to see not just lives changed, but a new community of Spanish speaking believers who are telling others about God’s love and power.

International Ministry
Matt's book, Prophesy and Heal the Sick, has come out in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Hungarian. It will be soon be out in Romanian, Russian, French and Dutch. This year he has or will be training churches in: Hungary, Romania, Belgium, Australia, The Netherlands, Mexico, USA and Spain. Invitations continue to come from around the world to train in prophetic and healing ministry. This is an important yet so often misunderstood and even misused tool for ministry. It is an important tool to see our dream of seeing new disciples made and churches planted throughout Amsterdam, Holland, Europe and the world.

(Pastor Alejandro & Mayra Lopes in a conference in Costa Rica) Yesterday I visited a Hispanic church here in Amsterdam which was celebrating the opening of its brand new temple. Iglesia El Encuentro con Dios was founded 18 years ago by Mayra Lopez, the wife of Alejandro Lopez who is now the senior pastor. Their new church building has cost them more than 2 million euros (3 million dollars). It sits in the middle of a commercial/factory zone, so you don't expect to find a building packed with 400 Latin Americans worshipping God in their native language. It is an unbelievable story. Ten more weeks...

Ten more weeks until my due date, November the 9th, and the pregnancy is going great. I had to be tested for pregnancy diabetes, because Judah weighed 10 pounds at birth (which is usually an indicator for diabetes). But yesterday the results from that came in and my blood sugar is normal! Praise God! No sugar free diet….! We are expecting a little girl. We have picked a beautiful name…Hannah Grace. Judah calls her “Hannah Gracie”. Talking about Judah…we just celebrated his birthday on the 17th of August. He loved it! It was the first time he could realize that this was all for him and he is still singing birthday songs. He is just developing so quickly, he learns new words every day and because I speak to him in Dutch, he is picking up Dutch real fast. Here are some pictures!!

T. L. Osborn - A Man Who Made God's Message His Own

Then he said, "Son of man, get all these words that I'm giving you inside you. Listen to them obediently. Make them your own. And now go. Go to the exiles, your people, and speak. Tell them , "This is the message of God, the Master.' Speak your peace, whether they listen or not."  Ezekiel 3:10-11 The Message Bible In order to effectively communicate God's message, we need to first digest them; internalize them, make them our own. When we  have allowed them to enter into the deepest recesses of my heart, then they can change us at the core of our being. Nevertheless, we must also be actively listening and internalizing how the culture around us thinks.
