"I am confused....I don't believe in this...."

Last week Robert and I went to a local shopping center and offered to pray for people and give them a "spiritual gift" such as healing or an encouraging word. One young Hungarian woman asked us repeatedly what we were doing and why. She asked, "So if I have back pain, what are you going to do?"

"We are going to pray and ask Jesus to take the pain away," we responded.

"But don't you have to believe in order for those things to work," she asked.

"No, not at all. We see people get healed quite often who don't believe. Just let us pray for you and see what happens," we responded.

I then prayed a short prayer for her back and she responded with, "This is scary...I don't feel any more pain."

Our conversation went on and then she freaked out when I asked her if she had pain in her right ankle or foot.

"How did you know that?" was her response.

She freaked out even more when Robert prayed for her and the pain disappeared completely...

Then Robert got another word of knowledge about them looking for a place to live...

"How do you know these things?"

"It is simply Jesus. We ask him to speak to us and when we have a thought that does not go away we ask to see if it really is him speaking. Apparently he is speaking to us and he wants to show you that he loves you and that he cares for you," we said.

"This is scary...I don't even believe in this...why do you do this? Do I need to pay you" she asked further.

"Of course not, we just simply want to give you freely from what we have gotten from Jesus."

This gave us an opportunity to tell more of the message and life of Jesus Christ. How he loves her and her partner and how everyone is looking for Jesus; just they are not aware it is Jesus they are looking for. How often people think of church and Jesus in the context of stuffy religion (rules and regulations) but that he actually is inviting us to have a very real and living personal relationship with him.

This made for a wonderful conversation and we even got to pray for her family who is in Hungary right now.

I don't know if we will ever see that sweet Hungarian woman again, but hopefully she will always remember when Jesus touched her and spoke to her through two strangers at a shopping centre in Amsterdam. Another story that illustrates why I love to share the love of Jesus by using his Power (otherwise know as Power Evangelism :-)
