Cords of the Heart

Image
There are cords in our heart. These cords are like harp strings which can be tuned and are tuned according to the sound of the song our heart hears. This can be a song of hopelessness without meaning or it can be a song which comes from heaven. As we tune our heart strings to the sound of heaven, we find ourselves playing in a great orchestra where God is the conductor and we get to play in unison with many others. As we read books from saints of the past, we can pick up playing the same songs they played. We can improvise and give their songs a personal touch. As we do this, there are times when it is no longer just our fingers playing the music, but the fingers of the creator of the world is playing. The fingers of the one whose hands were pierced begin to play with our hands. It is no longer just our voice that sings, but the spirit of God who blows through the sound pipes of our lungs. Stillness is no longer empty, but full of life, meaning, faith, hope,...

The Importance of Feeling Sadness

Image
The Importance of Feeling Sadness " Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted." -Jesus Christ, Matt. 5:4 In the 2015 Pixar's Film Inside-Out , teenage Riley Anderson has a huge problem in that she cannot feel sadness anymore. Because of this, she isolates herself and begins to lose her own identity. She runs away from her home because her pain is unbearable. Inside-Out climaxes when she can weep in the arms of her father. Just as sadness was important for Riley, so recognizing sadness and pain is part of finding healing in the loving arms of our heavenly father. Life is full of tragedy, pain and disappointment. A friend of mine who was happily married with five children lost her husband at a young age in a car accident. During the week of the funeral, she refused to take sleeping pills or medicine because she said, "I need to feel this pain. I need to mourn and process my loss. I am afraid if I begin taking pills, they may become an ad...

How To Tell The Future (Part 1)

" Only I can tell you the future before it even happens..." Isaiah 46:10 (NLT)  " But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come." John 16:13             In 2013, I was preaching at Victory Iglesia in Oklahoma City when the following words popped out of my mouth, "Two years from now, you will no longer be in this building, but in another larger building."             I was shocked when those words came out of my mouth so then I added (just in case), "And two years from now, we will find out if that was really God speaking or just me."             Two years later, Victory Iglesia moved into a much larger building.     ...

Don't Stop Praying for Healing

Image
"Finally I had enough! I told the Lord that I was through praying for the sick. I would preach the Gospel so that people would “get saved,” but I just couldn’t take all of the embarrassing failures when I prayed for them and they did not get healed!" -Dean Helland I just returned from the Ukraine where we saw more than 100+ healings in the last few days. In the last two months of ministry, I have seen more than 350+ healings ranging from backs, deaf ears, blind-eyes to arthritis and joint problems disappearing after prayer. The reality of healing ministry however is that there are heart-breaking moments when people are not healed and you may just want to not pray for healing any more. Recently, my father, who modeled healing ministry for me, wrote me a letter reflecting on those difficult times when he wanted to stop praying for healing. Here are some of the stories he shared with me: (I watched my dad see thousands of people's back heale...
